Helpful Resources

Funding

We know that funding is hugely important to all students at college and university. Care experienced students are entitled and prioritised for some student bursaries and grants. Click here to find out more!

High School Transitions Toolkit

We know a smooth transition sets students up for success. We have designed a transitions toolkit for high school students preparing to leave school. It focusses on important aspects to consider when looking at college, university, or employment, such as: applying, funding, housing, learning support, communities, wellbeing, and building a support network.

Support in College or University

Colleges and Univesrities are very supportive places, but we know sometimes it can be hard to navigate. Each institution has their own support teams, named contacts, and webpages dedicated to care experienced people. Click here to find out more about the support in each of our partner institutions and beyond.

Thinking of leaving? Need a break?

Students may find that during their studies, they feel unable to study temporarily. They may wish to take some time away from their studies, and may wish to pick up where they left off once they are ready to return to their course. They may also be able to maintain their bursary during this time. This is known as an ‘interruption of studies’, or a ‘leave of absence’.

Good Practice

Colleges and Universities have adapted some great things in their policies and practices when supporting care experienced students. We know that our places of learning work, when they work for everyone. If you want to ensure your practices are inclusive and trauma informed, have a look at our resources.
